HIAA Annual General Meeting 2008 The first HIAA annual meeting was a cosy event at Café Strindberg with lots of discussion. The board was re-elected to continue its work, with just one minor change: Elise Gegauff was elected as secretary and Sini Anttila-Rodriguez became a member of the board. Also the auditors were re-elected. The main subject of the meeting was of course the coming exhibition. The final participant list includes 14 members. Semra and Kenan Türkmen and Susan Wilander prepare an application for the Korjaamo Gallery as soon as possible. If that gallery is not rented to us, we have a second option at Punavuori Design, thanks to Tea Jarma-Vartiainen. The place is smaller, but location is very good. The brand new membership cards were distributed to the members present at the meeting. Those of you that haven’t received your card, you can get it at the next meeting or ask me to mail it to you. It was decided that Tea Jarma will contact different art supply stores to negotiate membership discounts. We will hear more about that later on. If you have any suggestions for good stores, let me know. During this year, HIAA will further develop the website (www.hiaa.fi) created by Hong Liu, which is already very smart looking. Those of you who haven’t yet sent in your pictures, e-mail them to info@hiaa.fi along with your cv/bio and Hong will put them into the web gallery. We will also do a bit of new member recruitment and general HIAA marketing by distributing information leaflets to relevant locations plus do HIAA PR as much as possible, especially regarding the coming exhibition. Our last meeting before summer break is on the 12th June at Café Strindberg, 18.30 onwards. You’re all most welcome! Best regards, Susan |
