Elise Gegauff

My name is Elise Gegauff and I was born in Paris in 1982. I have grown up in Norway with my grandparents and there I went to art school from 1998 to 2000. I discovered my love for painting and art history. I started out working with acrylic but found it limiting for the kind of art I wanted to achieve, and now I am working only with oils.

There has never been a secret that I have always been very into film and music, and from 2003 to 2006 I went to film school in Paris. I was lucky enough to live in Montmartre, and of course I got a lot of inspiration from the many galleries and artists there. I have also had Charlie Chaplin and Film inspired exhibitions in Norway.

When it comes to music, I have always been a big admirer of Michael Jackson.

I have painted him a lot, and in 2007 I was lucky enough to meet him after he had seen his own self portrait that I had done. He wanted to meet me, and I had the pleasure of speaking with this interesting and inspirational man.

You can see in my work that film and music inspires me. Currently I am working on details and nature and my goal as an artist is to be able to paint as naturalistic as I can. I would say that my specialty are portraits, but you will probably see more of fantasy paintings in the future...
